Get Your Groove on With This Heart-Shaped Disco Ball
Our love for disco balls runs deep. (Real deep, like part of our DNA deep.) So we jump at any opportunity to DIY disco magic — like our disco ball skirt, for example. And just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ve come up with a new way to enjoy all that sparkles: a heart-shaped disco ball. This cutie is so simple to make and it looks spectacular. Pretty groovy, right?
Get ready to get all sorts of vibey.
Materials and Tools:
- heart-shaped box
- ceiling hook
- silver spray paint
- 3 packs of self-adhesive mirror glass tiles
Begin by spray painting your box silver. This gives you some wiggle room for the placement of the tiles around the curves and helps camouflage any uncovered surface area. (We HIGHLY RECOMMEND wearing protective gloves while handling the glass tiles.) We started tiling from left to right.
Because of the curved heart, it’s not going to be perfect, but it will still look amazing!
Before you tile the rest of the heart, screw in the ceiling hook. To ensure that the heart will hang evenly, make sure it’s right in the center.
Tiling the sides is super easy because you can do it in larger strips of tile. After the sides are done, flip the box over and tile the back, and you’re ready to disco!
When the light hits this right, it’s straight-up magic.
And don’t think you need to save this for a party. Disco balls make evergreen room decor that’s equal parts chic and fun.
Move it around until you find the best light!
